It’s not easy being green…. or so they say…
Imagine entering a world of complete respect for our environment - a place where all elements are reused, renewed or recycled. Imagine a tranquil, green sanctuary for children to play, learn and experience the wonderful world of environmental design. Welcome to The Groovy LEED Playhouse.
In a constantly changing world, the choice to “go green” is an important one for parents and children alike. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is the path of leadership in the acceptance of this choice. The first LEED certified playhouse built for HomeAid Los Angeles/Ventura’s Project Playhouse™, this cozy home utilizes solely recyclable materials to provide an environmentally friendly play area while teaching children different ways they can help in “going green.”
Environmentally friendly carpeting and paint hug the floors and walls of this eco-conscious little A-frame house. To conserve energy, solar paneling across the roof collects energy from the sun to power the playhouse. Disregarding dry wall and typical modes of construction, bamboo lines the ceiling, bringing nature in and environmental harm out. Of special note is the outdoor climbing wall, slide and swing…all invitations to healthy lifestyle and pure kid fun!
Take a walk inside and check out the different materials used and learn how each one is completely renewable and safe for your community. Your local community played a huge part in this playhouse, with a local architecture firm – VPR Design – heading up the design process with only local vendors providing support and donations for construction. This interactive learning environment will open your eyes to the possibility of a green future starting right now, with you and your beautiful playhouse.
